City View

During the process of deciding where we were going to start this new church, a friend from the Keller-Alliance area was kind enough to drive us around and show us the new growth in the area. We drove up the Heritage Trace exit, coming from the north on I-35W...and what we saw left a lasting impression.

Looking forward, we saw this incredible "cityview" of downtown Fort Worth. To the left and right, we saw a sea of rooftops. The rooftops gave us an immediate sense of the need for new churches in this area. The view of downtown Forth Worth left a memory that would eventually lead to the name "CityView Church".

Added to that memory was the idea behind Matthew 5:14. We believe that Jesus' church was always meant to be a well-lit city that is plain to see. We hope to be a well lit city where Jesus and His mission are plainly visible and on display through His city...his people.

Finally, it's interesting that the first "paradise" was desciribed as a garden while the paradise to come is identified as a city. While we strive to live fully in the present, we know that our future is this new City...so we "press on" and keep our view fixed on the future that awaits us.
